Winsford United 3-1 Stockport Sports

Saturday 26th October
NWCFL Challenge Trophy
Attendance: 83
Admission: £5

Winsford United FC play in the NWCFL Premier Division and play their home games at The Barton Stadium, a ground which is also home to 1874 Northwich. There is two stands, one terraced along the side of the pitch and across the other is the seated stand which accommodates the Refreshments, bar, press area and a decent amount of seats. There is a large amount of parking right outside the ground, the entrance is presented nice at the turnstiles but there is a tight fit to get through them.

The admission cost £5 for Adults which is the standard across most of the NWCFL and was decent value of money with a strong Winsford side taking on Stockport Sports who were fielding a completely new team putting in a spirited performance and making the match an entertaining affair. The programme on offer had a decent content but the layout seemed a bit of a mess but you pay for what you get, a packed programme with a lacking lay-out. The offering of food at Winsford was good value and the hot food on offer was varied. Burgers and Pies cost £2 with the all-important Chips (a fairly large portion) costing £1.20. The large portion was nice for the cost but the wait for the food was disappointing, 10 minutes is a bit too long to wait for a portion of chips no matter how nice.

Overall the ground holds a lot of charm which is a great venue for a non-league game and the important Admission, Programme and Chips costing £7.70. Well worth a visit for any non-league groundhopper.
