Stockport Sports 1-2 Winsford United

Saturday 17th July 2013
FA Cup – Extra Preliminary Round
Attendance: 74
Admission:  £5

Stockport Sports (formerly Woodley Sports) play in the NWCFL and play their matches at the Stockport Sports Village, a large sporting complex in Woodley. The ground maybe small but it’s a very clean and has good look with two seated stands with one at the side of the pitch and one offering a view behind the goal. Food can be bought at ‘The Hatch’ which offers a wide range of food for the matchdays including ice creams and Fish & Chips. Parking isn’t a problem at the ground with plenty of spaces right near the turnstiles and the staff are friendly. On top of that there is also a bar serving drinks inside which also offers a decent panoramic view of the game.

Admission to the match for the match was £5 but the club fail to attract large home crowds wi
th a majority of the people their supporting the away side; but still the standard of football matches the money and offers 90mins of football for a fiver. The programme (The Saxon Scene), costs £1.50; a thoroughly professional programme with a decent lay-out and match reviews with photos; may be lacking some content but overall a great buy.

As mentioned ‘The Hatch’ offers a wide range of foods, and this wouldn’t be a proper ‘Away Chips’ without the chips. Chips will set you back £1.25, they portion fairly small but they taste better than most of the other chips tried previously especially Altrincham.

Overall if you’re a supporter of a NWCFL team then I would advise you to visit Stockport Sports when they take on the Saxons, you will be impressed with the set-up.
