NWCFL Premier Division
Attendance: TBC
Admission: £5
Maine Road play in Chorlton on Bratingham Road in the
NWCFL Premier Division. Their home ground has two major covered areas, one
standing and the other offering seating. They have a clubhouse in the area
which fills up quickly at half-time which offers the usually food. There is a
small car-park just outside of the turnstiles.
The admission to the match was £5 which is the norm at
this level and with the entertainment on show it makes it worth paying. The
ground is charming, having nice features of that traditional ground. The programme
large in size for £1.50 is filled with the history in the club – a more general
programme not for the individual games. Very good value considering the size of
the programme.
The food on offer is standardly priced for the league
with Canned drinks at 80p, Chocolate (well mars bars) at 70p and Pies on offer
at £1.50. The lack of selection for a highly attended match was slightly disappointing
with no Crisps, Chips, One type of Chocolate bar and two pies, they do have a refreshment bar usually open on matchdays. They did serve a
bowl of Chilli (with bread) for £1.50 which came as the surprise of the night
as it was extremely nice, got to love the difference at a cold Monday night
match.
Overall the ground is charismatic and well worth the
visit for those who are interested in non-league football and the traditional
values of football along with it’s history
